Jonathan

David's Best  Friend

JonathanHdr22.png

"...For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few." ~ (1 Samuel 14:6)

WHAT A FELLA!!   In the words of T. H. Jones, "Jonathan has typically been portrayed as a "model of loyalty to truth and friendship!"  NO DOUBT - a superbly AWESOME friend to have!!  Amongst THE GREATEST friendships to EXIST within ALLL THE BIBLE - was the friendship of David & Jonathan!!  A far cry from his father, Saul - Jonathan FAAR SURPASSED his dad in maturity, morality, knowledge of the LORD!!!  FoSho!!!  NO DOUBT a "MIGHTY MAN of VALOR!!"  I only WISH he could have - as he said to David in 1 Samuel 22:R And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth."  I speak of the highlighted words!!  Had he only lived long enough to be next to David during David's kingship??  WoWw!!  Now THAAT would have BEEN PHENOMENAL!!!   PHEEENOMINAL!!   Annd POWERFUL!!!

I truly BELIEVE that when the LORD chose Saul to be Israel's first king.. He was choosing the character that Jonathan possessed ((that I believe Saul, ""THEN"" possessed!))  Jonathan's character was EXEMPLARY

in EVERY SINGLE SENSE OF THE WORD!!!

...Jonathan...

  • Through  God, & with ONLY his armor-bearer, took down a host of Philistines, wroughting a GREAT VICTORY for Israel

  •

  • TRULY SAW that David had committed ABSOLUTELY NO sin against Saul; but that in his jealousy, he wanted David's life for the people ascribing Saul to 'thousands," and David to his ten thousands!   Jonathan was willing to give his life to vindicate his best friend David!!!

With that ~ Jonathan's ""MOST WORTHY"" story...

JONATHAN was born in Gibeah, Israel, (a hill in the northern reaches of modern Jerusalem,) around about 1095 B.C...  He was the eldest son of King Saul (first king of Israel!!  Strictly - NO EGO strokin' around HIM!!  After ALL!  His ego was big enough to go around!!  Annd AROUND again!)..  This would be the remains of the house/palace of Saul; where Jonathan resided, no doubt, as well!

***TO CLEAR SOMETHING UP HERE & NOW... Jonathan WAS NOTT HOMOSEXUAL!!!   I've heard these HORRID, GROSS, DISGUSTING, MISREAD theory!!  I cannot believe people could read the Bible with that SICK mindset!!  It comes from reading a passage describing the friendship of David & Jonathan, found in 1 Samuel 18:1-4

B And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

C And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.

D Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

E And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.'

This passage merely describes what a perfect friendship looks like!!  What a perfect friendship SHOULD look like!!

David & Jonathan's bosom friendship began on the day of David's return from the victory over the Goliath, and continued till Jonathan's death. Their last meeting was in the forest of Ziph (purported cave where that visit took place), during Saul's pursuit of David.  From this time forth we hear no more about Jonathan, till the battle of Gilboa. The battle that Jonathan (and his father, king Saul) were hanged, in. (B.C. 1056.)  What a shame!  He, NO DOUBT, woulda made a better king than his arrogant father!!

His ashes were buried first at Jabesh-gilead (1 Samuel 31:13 ) but were afterward removed with those of his father to Zelah in Benjamin. ( 2 Samuel 21:12 ) The news of his death occasioned the awaited kingship of David. He left a son, Mephibosheth (who was lame.)

SO - He & Saul, are somewhere, here, in Zelah..  It's NOT even certain where Zelah is.. But somewhere in Gilead.. Wherever David re-buried them..  They "had" been stolen once before.. So it's very likely that David wanted their 2nd burial a secret to deter grave robbers!!

The tomb of Abner, 2nd cuz to JonathanIS availible, HELLO!!
