When EliJAH told God that HE was the only one LEFT serving Him..

God said, (in layman's terms): "You're breaking My heart.. Don't flatter yourself... I've got one just as hungry as you are!"

ENTER Eli-s-ha!

He also mentioned in the New Testament..  But back to the 'Old Testament'.. WHAT A FELLA!!  OHH TO BE FILLED WITH THE MASS HUNGER ELISHA HAD FOR GOD!!  In later years AFTER he'd died - Elisha's BONES awakened the dead!!  What a beautiful thing THAT'D be!!  Where EliJah left off ~ HE PICKED UP (QUITE LITERALLY), where Elijah left off!!  There was some unfinnished bidness with that huzzy Jezebel.. & ELISHA was chompin at the bit to get the ball rollin on it,

...SO I'll go-on NOW; and GET TO HIS STOWY...

ELISHA (Hebrew: אֱלִישָׁע; Modern: ʼEliša, Tiberian: ʼĔlîšāʻ, "My God is salvation", Greek: Ἐλισ[σ]αῖος, Elis[s]aîos or Ἐλισαιέ, Elisaié), was a prophet and a wonder-worker of the Northern Kingdom of Israel...  He first comes in the the picture in KINGS, when the command given Elijah by God to anoint him as his successor. This was after ELIJAH told God he was calling it quits..

After learning in the cave on Mount Horeb, that Elisha, the son of Shaphat, had been selected by Yahweh as his successor in the prophetic office, Elijah set off to find him. On his way from Sinai to Damascus, Elijah found Elisha "one of them that were ploughing with twelve yoke of oxen". Elisha delayed only long enough to kill the yoke of oxen, whose flesh he boiled with the wood of his plough. Elijah went over to him, threw his mantle over Elisha's shoulders, and at once adopted him even as a son, investing him to the office of the PROPHETICS.. After he had shared this farewell repast with his father, mother, and friends, the newly chosen prophet "went after Elijah, and followed his EVERY move!  From that time, EliSha was on EliJah.. Like a BUZZARD on a GUT WAGON!!

For the next seven or eight years Elisha became Elijah's close attendant until Elijah was taken up into heaven. During all these years we hear nothing of Elisha except in contrast with the closing scenes of Elijah's time here on earth.  I WOULD PERSONALLY LOVE to have  had THAT on record, FoSho!!    Before being taken up to heaven, Elisha asked Elijah for a DOUBLE PORTION of Elijah's anointing.  A request for greater prophetic power even than Elijah.  Elijah told him (layman's"I sup'pose if your eyes are upon me when I am taken up!"  And HEY HEY SON - Elisha's eyes... JUST WERE.. on him!!

By means of the mantle let fall from Elijah, Elisha miraculously recrossed the Jordan, here, and Elisha returned to Jericho, where he won the gratitude of the people by purifying the unwholesome waters of their spring and making them drinkable.SEE the SIGN??

Before he settled in Samaria, Elisha passed some time on Mount Carmel.  When a group of teens from Bethel mocked the prophet for his baldness, Elisha cursed them in the name of Yahweh and two female bears, came out of the forest and tore forty-two of the boys.  Don't mess with God's CHOSEN!  FoSho!  BTW - HERE, the exact well in Jericho that archaeologists have uncovered and believe may be Elisha's well.  Further - they think they may've even FOUND the remnants of EliSha's house!!  COOOL INDEED!!

To reward the rich lady of Shunem for her hospitality, he obtained for her from Yahweh, at first the birth of a son, and subsequently the resurrection of her child by laying upon the child, who had died. To nourish the sons of the prophets pressed by famine, Elisha changed a pottage made from poisonous gourds into wholesome food. He fed a hundred men with twenty loaves of new barley, leaving some left over,  in a story which is comparable with the miracles of Jesus.. Though NOT in the magnitude that Jesus did it, obviously!..

Elisha cured the Syrian military commander, Naaman, (who was 'originally' po'd he hadda deal with Elisha's servant; instead of Elisha himself; AND got po'd for the bed of nasty water Elisha sent him to... SELF CENTERD MUCH?? Geeez!) of leprosy,  but punished his own servant Gehazi, after taking money from Naaman, after he told him NOT to.  Naaman, (after MUUUUCH persuasion from his own servant), washed where he was told to.. and his leprosy turned into flesh and it was "restored like the flesh of a little child" .. These are just a FEW miracles the LORD did through Elisha!!!

After predicting to Jehoash his victory over the Syrians at Aphek, as well as three other subsequent victories, ever bold before kings, ever kindly towards the lowly, Elisha died, and they buried him.  The LORD wasn't finished with Elish, however..

A year after Elisha's death and burial (or, in the following spring) a body was placed in his grave. As soon as the body touched Elisha's remains the man "revived, and stood up on his feet".

Here is his tomb..   YO!!  APPARENTLY - the corpse raising of Elisha went RIGHT OVER the Catholics head..  Or they would be coming to kiss his tombs like they do IN DROVES to Peter's foot!  Just saayin'

RIP Elisha!  You were a prophet among TOP prophets!!!
