 Isaac

  Abraham's promised 'of God' son

..And God said to Abraham ...
"your wife Sarah will give birth to a son for you, and you will name him Isaac. I will set up my covenant with him and with his descendants after him as an enduring covenant."
And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

BLESSED ISAAC!!  The promise, fulfilled to Abraham, when He said to Abraham.. P “As for your wife Sarai, you will no longer call her Sarai. Her name will now be Sarah. Q I will bless her and even give you a son from her. I will bless her so that she will become nations, and kings of peoples will come from her.”  R Abraham fell on his face and laughed. He said to himself, Can a 100-year-old man become a father, or Sarah, a 90-year-old woman, have a child? S To God Abraham said, “If only you would accept Ishmael!”  T But God said, “No, your wife Sarah will give birth to a son for you, and you will name him Isaac."  (Isaac means, 'he laughs)  I will set up my covenant with him and with his descendants after him as an enduring covenant."  ~ Genesis 16:15-19

I LOVE the story of Isaac!!  Any believer, IMO, SHOULD Abraham IS, after all, the father of our faith!!  He is also a remarkable stunning example of just how God walks with His chosen when they walk before Him with utmost integrity & honor!!  NOT perfect ~ (Romans 3:23)!! (Had Abraham walked perfect-Ishmael would never have come into existence!!)  But walk with humility, & integrity & honor & most ESPECIALLY humbleness of heart!!  Abraham was willing to do what God DID for us by sacrificing His only begotten Son.. And by doing this - He showed us what TRUE LOVE WAS, IS, & SHOULD be!!  It's IMPOSSIBLE to walk PERFECT with God..  ((Don't forget Romans 3:23 & 1 John 1:10))

Of the sacrifice.. There is one of the most AWESOME songs (IMO), EVER WRITTEN RECORDED.. Have a listen...

Wasn't that awesome!!  LOVE IT!  It's best, IMO, with Robin Herd is up and at the mic.. I've heard others sing it but I dunno - Robin just has that anointing on it!  FoSho!!

ANNYWAY... With that??  ISAAC's MORE AWESOME than a BLOSSOM story, begins!!
(Beginning with Wiki; Because I couldn't say it any better myself!! FoSho!!

ISAAC, is one of the three patriarchs of the Israelites and an important figure in the 3 Abrahamic religions.. Judaism, Christianity, (and uggh Islam blahhh🤢I'm gonna ðŸ¤®).

He, of course, was THE promised of God son of Abraham and Sarah... ANND, the father of Jacob (& hairy Esau), and the grandfather of twelve tribes of Israel (aka ~ Israel's (or; Jacob's sons!!)

Isaac's name means "he laughs", reflecting a comical pun when Abraham and Sarah, both, laughed in disbelief when told by God that they would have a child.  (Though Abraham laughed in his heart; Sarah.. Out loud..)

Both Sarah and Abraham were advanced in age upon the birth of Isaac. He is the only patriarch whose name was not changed (prolly cause the LORD, named him; (or told Abraham what he was to be named) , and the only one who did not move out of Canaan... So - save from the women of Canaan, he DID, like it there..

Isaac died when he was 180 years old, the longest-lived of the three.

As promised of the LORDIsaac was delivered to Abraham & Sarah, in the land of Canaan

They lived here, amongst this village in Beersheba, Israel. Though this was Abraham's second son, it was Sarah's first and only child. On the eighth day from his birth, Isaac was circumcised, as was necessary for all males of Abraham's household, in order to be compliant with the LORD's covenant with Abraham.

No doubt Abraham loved Isaac more than ANYTHING on earth.. And the LORD used this when testing Abraham.. of his faithfulness to God..
C And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the
mountains which I will tell thee of."~Genesis 22:2
I can't help but think Abraham blurted a big ol ''say HUH??'
Nevertheless.. Abraham did as God instructed, AND did it HASTILY!
As he did whenever God instructed him to do something.

Upon Abraham binding Isaac, getting him on the altar, & as Abraham was about to sacrifice him..

L The angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, 'Here am I.' M And He said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. N And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering, in the stead of his son. ~Genesis 22:11-13

The general locale of that place where Abraham near sacrificed Isaac to the LORD, is here, upon the now Temple Mount..  A closer look under this canopy reveals the actual bedrock of the Mount that Abraham & Isaac would have walked upon sections of, on that faith-ful, fateful day of testing.

Abraham dealt & gave BIG TIMEwhen it came to ANYTHING involving his son, Isaac..  Upon Isaac being weaned from Sarah, Abraham threw the feast of all feasts!!

When Isaac was yet 40.. It was time to pick for Isaac a wife, Abraham sent his servant, Eliezer, his steward, into Haran to find a wife for Isaac, from his nephew Bethuel's family.. Rebekah, was found, & was garnished with gold upon gold, from Abraham's servant, Eliezer.. (talk about hitting da JACKPOT.. Rebekah was adorned with BLING - And on the subject of BLING BLING??  She had it!) â›§â”ˆâ™› ♛┈⛧

And... After receiving the blessing of her family, Rebekah was brought back to Isaac...

" And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

# And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.

$ For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

% And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.

& And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death. (~Genesis 24:63-67)

Not long after receiving Rebekah as his wife.. Isaac's father, Abraham, died ðŸ˜¥..  Isaac & wife relocated to Beer-lahai-roi.. When the land experienced famine, he relocated to the Philistine land of Gerarwhere his father once lived. This land was still under the control of King Abimelech, as it was in the days of Abraham.

In a like father, like son senario, Isaac also deceived Abimelech about his wife, and also, like Abraham, got into the modern day plumbing business.. Isaac's day.. The well business. He had gone back to all of the wells that his father dug and saw that they had been closed up with dirt... The asshole Philistines did this after Abraham died.  So, Isaac unearthed them and began to dig for more wells, often through limestone. He re-dug them, to claim the land as rightfully HIS! A neighboring rival group, the early ancestors of the Philistines, were claiming the same borderlands for their own grazing territory. Threatened by Isaac’s prosperity, they tried to intimidate Isaac’s group from sharing this land. To do this, they plugged up numerous wells with dirt and stones to make the wells useable. But Isaac was not intimidated; he proceeded to re-open the wells for his growing number of flocks and herds.  SO, Abimelech, the king of the Philistines, hears of this; & knowing that, like his father, Isaac is blessed of the LORD, makes peace with Isaac, and Isaac prepares a feast. The new well is called Shibah (meaning ‘Well of the Promise)  Isaac re-digs the wells all the way to Beersheba, where he made a pact with Abimelech, AGAIN, just like his father had done some years earlier.

After many years of marriage to Isaac, Rebekah had still not given birth to a child and was believed to be barren. Isaac prayed for her and she conceived. Rebekah gave birth to twin boys, Esau and Jacob.  As GOD told Rebekah.. (Each boy repped a nation..)  Esau came out first ((ALL hairy)), and Jacob followed closely, 2nd; and clinging tightly onto Esau's heel... The prophet Hosea describes Jacob in Hosea 12:3: In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel; as a man he wrestled with God.😆) Isaac was 60 years old when his two sons were born.

As Isaac grew old, his sight became dimmed.. He called his son Esau, (Eldest; whom he favored because of being his first & the fact that they enjoyed the same favorite food, venison.)  He told Esau that the time had come for, 'the blessing.'  And asked Esau to go and cook him some venison for strength & comfort for the blessing.

Now, Rebekah favored Jacob, and overhearing Isaac telling Esau that it was 'blessing time', & 'to go procure some game ((prolly venison..)) While Esau was hunting, she instructed Jacob, to deceive his blind father by misrepresenting himself as Esau... Thereby obtaining his father's blessing, such that Jacob became Isaac's primary heir; and Esau was left in an inferior position. AND according to Genesis 25:29–34, Esau had previously sold his birthright to Jacob..

; And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

< And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint:

therefore was his name called Edom.

= And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

a And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

b And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

c Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. ~Genesis 25:29-34

thus making Jacob the RIGHTFUL heir.

Thereafter, Isaac sent Jacob into Herran to take a wife of his mother's brother's house. After what was supposed to be 7 years, but turned into 20 years, working for his scheming uncle Laban, (brother of Rebekah, his mom)... Jacob returned home. He reconciled with his twin brother Esau, then he and Esau buried their father, Isaac, alongside their grandfather, Abraham, at the cave of Machpelah, in Hebron after he died, at the age of 180.

RIP ISAAC!! The blessed promised son!!

Have a gander at modern day Beersheba??  FoSho!!
